Confirmed Launches: Samsung has Launched What in the Samsung S Series and other series?
Galaxy S25 Series & S25 Edge
Early in the year of 2025, Samsung has officially launched two phone lines called Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra as successors of Samsung S24 phones. These flagship phones are the continuations of Samsung’s efforts in artificial intelligence, high quality camera systems, high end displays and longer software support.
An interesting variation within this series doesn’t run, but would be introduced later: the Galaxy S25 Edge. What’s special about the Edge is the ultra-thin design – at just 5.8mm thickness, is what make the Edge the slimmest Galaxy phone to date. Along with that, it has the integration of advanced AI features, and efforts to maintain perform and thermal comfort despite the slender build.
Galaxy A and Mid-Range Models
Samsung is not only focussing on just flagship. Given that Galaxy A26 5G came out in early 2025 and features some mid range specs including a 50MP main camera, 6.7″ 120HZ display, IP67 rating and from a software perspective a as of writing (later 2025 / Q1 2025) ‘6-years’ software support promise (OS / Security Updates).
Another new release is the Galaxy A56 5G which is an improvement on some feature of previous ‘A’ models. It has a 50 MP main camera (with OIS) along with the fast charging battery, AMOLED 120Hz display, improved internal specifications, etc.
In the affordable range, Samsung recently launched two models, out of which was that of Galaxy F17 5G in India. Priced around at Rs 13,999, it packs a 50 megapixel sensor, 5,000 mAh battery backing, and extended software for it with six Android upgrades and six years of security updates, which is pretty unheard of in this sector.
Emerging Launches & Rumors To Watch Out For
Trifold. (Three Panel Foldable) Device
One of the most spoken of rumours is Samsung who is reportedly working on a trifold smartphone, a smartphone that unfolds in three panels. The head of Samsung’s mobile division, TM Roh, has confirmed that Samsung is developing this type of device, and that it expects to start offering it in 2025. However, the final name, form-factor and the target market will have to wait.
Design files and animations in One UI 8 had hinted at such a form factor in the past, however, Samsung did not include it in its recent Unpacked event-one clue that more development and testing is still underway.
If the trifold device is released, it could snub Huawei’s Mate XT which at the moment occupies a position void of contenders in the foldable/trifold space.
Galaxy S25 FE & AI Ecosystem Push
At IFA 2025 Samsung unveiled a more affordable version of the flagship smartphone but gave a different name, i.e. Galaxy S25 FE. It carries many of the artificial intelligence functions of Galaxy S25 and adding a triple camera, 6.7″ measure, a 4,900 mAh battery and a chipset: a triple Exynos 2400 (in some markets).
This launch comes in line with Samsung’s attempts to want to extend the Galaxy AI reach. Their goal is to ramp up the number of users of Galaxy’s AI from 200 million users to 400 million users by year-end. The FE variant may be beneficial in putting their AI features into more hands at a lower expense.
Important Developments in Samsung’s New Launch Strategy
Some of the themes for Samsung’s recent releases and announcements include:
- AI Integration Everywhere: From flagship to mid-range, Samsung is integrating AI (e.g. Galaxy AI, AI on-device generative integration) throughout its line-up.
- Design Experimentation: The S25 Edge is pushing slimness and the rumoured trifold indicates that Samsung are making a big effort on bold form factors.
- Long Software Support in More Tiers: Until quite recently, long promises win OS updates was mainly for flagships. Now Samsung is going for below tiers too (A-series, F-series).
- Strategic Hardware Partnerships: Samsung is doing its bit, in that regard Samsung is working with OpenAI for Samsung’s Stargate chip project which shows more ambitious vision in semiconductor and on the AI Infra side.
What This Means for Buyers?
If you’re after the flagship experience, and just want to save a little bit of money, then the Galaxy S25 FE may be just the sweet spot.
If you’re looking for the very slimmest of premium smart phones, the S25 Edge is a gutsy choice – provided the battery and thermal performance is viable.
For those looking to buy solid middle-of-range phones with good support over the long-breakdown, A26 5G, A56 5G or F17 5G are good choices.
In case you’re trying out possible design options for the future, the trifold device is interesting – but probably not for early adopters, unless you are willing to live with prototypes and tradeoffs.
